Making My Own Logo - Prof. Dom Style

ree

Ten years later, I am back in college.

It was an extremely last minute decision and with that being said, I’ve run into a few obstacles.

  1. The first obstacle being that it’s been a whole decade since I last dove deep into full-time courses. I am slightly overwhelmed. Especially with two small ones under five running around. Thank God for nap time! 😉

  2. The second obstacle being that I reapplied two weeks before school started. This forced me to order books last minute as well as having to choose leftover classes. I am currently taking: Sociology, English Literature, World History and a Creative Innovations class

I specifically chose the Creative Innovations class based upon its description:

In this course students will be introduced to the practice of creativity as a rigorous approach to problem solving requiring research, persistence and grit. Students will work collaboratively to effectively synthesize existing ideas, images, and skill sets in original ways. They will embrace risk, and support divergent thinking. In the process, they will become more confident life-long learners.

GUESS WHAT CAUGHT MY EYE?!

RIGHT THERE! In the very first sentence is the word creativity. That word speaks to my soul and I feel that it defines who I am. This gesture secured my interest in Prof. Dom’s ‘Good To Great” class. He also mentions group work and I am always down for some good ole interaction. Who doesn’t want to become a confident life-long learner? I was sold.

First task of the semester

Was to create a logo for your personal brand. Easy peasy. I have a background in digital art, creativity and have prior experience in making my own websites. Brainstorming became a little complicated for me as I have so many interests and hobbies. I decided to go with something that not only spoke to the audience about who I am, but also showed them visually. What a better way to showcase my talents and take one more step to my degree!? I decided to put my knowledge of graphic design in combination with my creativity and iPad to the test.

I chose bold colors. Each color of the rainbow.

I like to think that my personality is colorful, bold and innovative.

I wanted that to stand out.

THE ANATOMY OF MY LOGO:

I love to hand draw my art. I feel like it adds a touch of my personality. You’ll see a lot of hand drawn digital art as its quick and easy with my iPad Pro and my Apple pencil. I chose to add multiple hands to my logo because I am a multitasker and I have so many different interests. Each hand is holding an item that I feel represents who I am as a brand. Bet you’d never guess that was me in the logo! 😉

I incorporated art supplies as well as fashion items. Individually I love all things encompassing art and fashion, but why not combine the two!? Now my art isn’t limited to just decoration, but also as a wearable statement!

Ive always wanted to fully commit to ONE website. I’ve create a few in the past but never really kept up with them.

Taking this class has helped push me to put my creativity and innovations into a personally branded website where I can share my creations with the world!
